About This Course
Environmental Activities helps children explore and understand their immediate physical and social world. Learners investigate the family, school, weather, plants, animals, safety, hygiene, and nutrition through observation, nature walks, gardening, and simple experiments. The course builds curiosity, awareness of the environment, and basic scientific thinking. It also instils values of care for surroundings, sustainability, and personal health, helping children become responsible and informed members of their community from an early age.
Learning Objectives
Material Includes
- Real objects from the environment (leaves, stones, flowers)
- Weather charts, pictures of animals/plants
- Gardening tools (small hoes, watering cans)
- Digital videos on safety and nature (where available)
Requirements
- Outdoor learning and nature walks encouraged
- Integrate sustainability and climate awareness
- Hands-on projects (planting seeds, sorting waste)
- Assessment through observation, simple projects and discussions
Target Audience
- Age group: PP1 (4 years) and PP2 (5 years)
- All children entering formal Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) in public or private centres
- No entry requirements – builds on home-based early stimulation
- Fully inclusive for all abilities, including learners with special needs
